Start with Start Up (once, 25 ml per 1,000 L) to get the nitrogen cycle going. Then dose Ammonia Shield on day 1 and day 6 and Nitri Balance on day 4 and day 14. With Bacto Gel the bacteria attach extra well to the filter medium. Measure ammonia and nitrite weekly during this period.
Which feed do I give at which water temperature?
Do not feed below 5 °C. Between 5 and 15 °C choose the easily digestible Wheat Germ, sparingly. From about 15 °C Staple is the daily feed, with Grower or Top Koi Boost for growth and colour in the warm season. Use the temperature gauge on the homepage for tailored advice.
How much and how often should I feed?
Feed 2–4 times a day, depending on fish size and water temperature, and no more than the fish eat within 5 minutes. Remove feed that is left over. Below 10 °C feed less, below 5 °C not at all.
Should the UV lamp be off when I dose bacteria?
Yes. UV light and ozone also kill beneficial bacteria. Switch off the UV lamp for 12 hours (Ammonia Shield, Nitri Balance) to 24 hours (Start Up, Pond Clean) after dosing. The exact time is on the label and on the product page.
May I use KH+ Buffer and GH+ Minerals at the same time?
No, do not use them at the same time and not together with medication either. Measure your KH and GH first and dose the products on different days. Target values: KH 8–9 and GH 11–12.
How do I calculate the volume of my pond?
Length × width × average depth in metres × 1,000 = number of litres. A pond of 4 × 3 m with an average depth of 1.2 m therefore holds about 14,400 litres. Every product page has a dosage calculator that works out the dose for you.
